The following was released by the Swindon Zero Waste Initiaitve on the 28th May 2019:
‘Our zero-waste shop, Nude Foods, has now been open for 6 weeks. Thanks to all who have come to shop and support us so far. If you haven’t tried us yet, please do. We hope to see you soon!
In realising our project, we owe a huge debt of gratitude to Kris Talikowski, the owner of The Core. Allowing us a free space in his Juice Bar has meant the difference between reality and just a dream! If you visit our shop, please do consider partaking of some of the wonderful healthy juices and snacks available at The Core. Well worth a try and a nice way to show our thanks for the support!
Also, a huge thank you and appreciation to all our fantastic volunteers. We wouldn’t be here without you. Please do keep coming!!
Since opening on April 17th, business has been steadily picking up and already we have lots of lovely zero-waste customers shopping with us on a regular basis. It is always good to see customers arriving with a bag full of empty containers.
As well as our experienced zero-wasters, we are also gaining customers new to zero-wasting who like the idea of saving plastic but have not come across the concept before. We are glad to be encouraging new people to join the zero-waste revolution. That’s what it’s all about.
Our latest news is that we have successfully completed our registration to become a Community Benefit Society. Hooray! We are currently setting up our bank account and then our next steps will be to offer Community Shares. This will help us finance the existing project, ensuring we can continue, and then also allow us to plan for our next eco-friendly endeavour whatever that happens to be! We don’t want to stop at just one small shop.’
