From Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council:
‘Help us plant trees on Stoneover Lane!
Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council, with the help of local volunteers, will be planting trees on the open space behind Shelley Avenue on Stoneover Lane on Sunday 9th February 2020.
What could be better than filling unused green space with lots of trees! 132 to be exact. We will be planting a mix of Wild Cherry, Silver Birch, Rowan, Crap Apple, Salix Caprea, Blackthorn and Hawthorn, all of which provide fantastic habitats for birds and insects while helping reduce atmospheric CO² levels.
If you would like to volunteer, pop down and register in the morning as a short introduction to planting trees will begin at 10:00am. It won’t be a long day, but please do bring warm and wet weather clothing, gloves and sturdy footwear.
All tools and equipment will be provided, but any spare spades and shovels brought along will be a big help. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come along, the planting area is accessed from Shelley Avenue although immediate parking is very limited.
We look forward to seeing you there!’
