Timebanking, Space Academy
19:00 to 21:00
16-10-19

Our monetary system does not serve us well.  Money as debt with too little working capital.  This forms the basis of  inequality, increasingly understood to have negative correlations to the well-being of people, communities and the environment.

Alternate currencies / exchange mechanisms can change this, empowering people and communities.  Timebanking is one such exchange mechanism.  Its beauty, its basis, is equality – one hour of someone’s time is worth one hour of someone else’s.  The implementation of timebanking can provide value to work that is not valued within the current system.  That can include work such as the arts, environmental protection, caring, social justice…  Timebanking can be implemented in many ways.

This event is in two parts.  Part one will be a workshop where will join the Space Academy, exploring what a currency is.  In part two, we will discuss the situation in Swindon and how timebanking may or may not fit.

This event is organised by Transition Swindon, part of the Transition network.  It is limited in number so please contact us if you would like to come along.

The Facebook event is here.
