The SCAN annual meeting, with a session on FoE’s new Climate Campaign and how in Swindon it could include feeding into council working group and local plan revision. With thousands of new homes to be built around Swindon it is vital to make these as fit for the future as possible.
National Friends of the Earth are launching a new big climate campaign, and local staffer Stuart Melvin will be there to tell us about it and facilitate discussions on how we can engage.
Some info about the FoE campaign is at https://takeclimateaction.uk/ , and a list of things the local council can do for starters is at https://policy.friendsoftheearth.uk/insight/33-actions-local-authorities-can-take-climate-change . With the council having just set a working group on climate change this is the perfect time to look into this more.
There will also be an update on the Swindon Council working group on Climate Change.
And in the AGM part of the meeting, we need to build a friendly inclusive core team for SCAN and fill roles including joint coordinators, treasurer, secretary, social media assistants (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter), communications including website, as well as campaigners on the themes that we want to pursue in the climate campaign. So jobs for everyone, let’s organise ourselves!
Do contact me, Julian, current joint coordinator on 07809 122474 or email@example.com , if you are interested or just come along to find out more. Please also join and share this facebook event or reply to this email if you are coming to give an idea of numbers.
After the meeting there will be a chance to adjourn to another local venue and have a further chat about how we move forward.
