‘Calling all those who want to organise for the climate strike!

The school student strikes over climate change and the actions by Reclaim Power, Extinction Rebellion and other groups have inspired millions of people across the globe. Now a call has gone out for a general strike to save the planet in September.

On Friday 20 September, school students will walk out in another global day of action, and have asked others to join them. This will kick off a week of action over climate.

It is crucial that we respond to this call and build action in September, and that trade unions are involved to help put working class people at the centre of the movement for climate justice.

This meeting has been called to discuss how we, in Swindon, can respond to the call for action and have the biggest impact on Friday, 20 September; how unions can mobilise for the general strike for climate, how everyone in a workplace can get action, and how we can organise protests and rallies in order to involve everyone who wants to see action over climate change.

Our meeting will be inclusive and participatory. We will be sharing ideas and experiences focused on making the biggest possible impact on September 20th and building a sustainable local movement!

All welcome.

Entry free, but donations to cover room cost and Swindon Earth Strike publicity appreciated!’
