We were contacted in 2019 by a local resident to Coate Water. He describes Coate Water as a gift to the residents of Swindon, to be looked after, valued and appreciated. In our meeting, one aspect that he was keen to address was litter. When we both met with the Swindon Rangers, who look after Coate Water, we learnt that time that could be be spent on vital conservation work is being spent picking up our rubbish.
So we decided to set up a litter pick, to help out the rangers and set a good example. It is shown through studies that litter attracts more litter. It is also shown that setting a good example by clearing up litter challenges the idea of littering being acceptable. In other words, be the change that you want to see in the world.
We will be meeting by the ranger cottage in the main car park at 10:45am for an 11am start. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear stout shoes. All equipment will be provided. Children to be accompanied by a responsible adult(s), thanks.
