Greener Communities Day - Swindon this Halloween!
Saturday 31st October 2026 - Christ Church, 26 Cricklade St, Swindon SN1 3HG
You are invited to gain and share inspiration and resources to support your climate and environmental goals at this event on Halloween day, the ancient festival of earth renewal.
Community groups, unitary and parish councils, schools and colleges, churches and mosques, businesses and charities and all sorts of other organisations are welcome to discuss and explore how to mitigate and adapt to climate change and reverse decline of nature and ecosystems.
Some people will have been encouraged by the People's Emergency Briefing film to think about how we can all do things in every area of life to help and how we need our politicians to enable and support a better future.
There will be stalls, presentations, panel discussions and workshops on various aspects - something for everyone. And some delicious healthy and nutritious plant-rich food for lunch!
Please complete the short expression of interest form to help us plan and let us know how you'd like to be involved - just visiting or helping to organise!
Afterwards those who wish can join us at The Victoria, 88 Victoria Rd, Swindon SN1 3BD to mull it over - a very short walk from the church.

Who we are
SCAN is a network of environmental community organisations and individuals in Swindon. We are also part of the wider Wiltshire Climate Alliance and affiliated to Friends of the Earth. We aim to engage people, politicians and organisations with the need to conserve our environment for future generations and address the causes of the climate and nature emergencies that are already starting to unfold.

What we do
We meet with our MPs and the council to discuss the climate and nature emergencies we face, hold stalls at public events, organize and collaborate on some annual events and hold in-person or zoom meetings on key issues - these are currently on the 3rd Wednesday evening of the month normally at 7:30pm, please contact us to confirm details if you wish to attend as they may sometimes vary.
We have recently been working with Wiltshire Climate Alliance and their projects on Green Open Homes / Retrofit and Climate Literacy. We would like to scale up our engagement in Swindon and would be pleased to hear from you if you would like to join in.
